Renovating the cremation ground at Serengatu village

CSR activity9 March 2026
The freshly repaired and repainted cremation-ground shed at Serengatu village, renovated under Inland Power's CSR programme.

Understanding the deep cultural and emotional significance of funeral rituals in rural communities, IPL undertook maintenance and painting work at the cremation ground (Shamshan Ghat) in Serengatu village. The facility had originally been built by the government but had fallen into disrepair.

  • Repair and maintenance of the cremation-ground shed and infrastructure
  • Fresh painting and beautification of the premises
  • Cleaning and improvement of the surrounding area for better usability
  • A more organised and respectful environment for last rites

The renovation gives villagers a clean, safe and dignified space during sensitive times and improves the usability of an existing public asset. It reflects IPL's people-centric approach to CSR: development that also preserves dignity, culture and community well-being.
